Licking County offers various activities to keep 

children and youth busy during the summer.

4-H CLOVERBUD DAY CAMP

  • The Licking County 4-H Cloverbud Day Camp is open to youth entering Kindergarten in fall 2024 up through the completion of 2nd Grade in Spring 2024.
  • Cloverbud Day Camp takes place at 4-H Camp Ohio in St. Louisville, OH.
  • Youth will experience group activities, nature education, small group activity sessions, and will meet new people.
  • Registration materials are available in April and will be due May 3, 2024.
  • Cost for Cloverbud Day Camp is $50 per camper.

  • The Licking County 4-H Summer Camp is open to youth ages 8 and in 3rd grade up through age 15 as of January 1, 2024.
  • Summer camp takes place over four days and 3 nights at 4-H Camp Ohio in St. Louisville, OH.
  • Youth will experience group activities, nature education, small group activity sessions, campfire activities, and will meet new people.
  • Registration materials are available in April and will be due May 17, 2024.
  • Cost for camp is $250 per camper.

CAMP O’BANNON

  • June 10, 2024 – August 3, 2024
  • A week of overnight camp is provided to referred Licking County children, ages 8 – 14 at no cost to their families.
  • Completely free overnight summer camp
  • Income-based
  • They provide all uniforms, supplies, bedding, etc. that are needed
  • There is an older kids camp for kids aged 13-15 years old. Campers live in cabins, cook their own food, and participate in age-appropriate activities.

PBJ Connections Open House 

  • PBJ Connections offers professional behavioral health therapy for children at least 6 years old and their families through horses, counseling, and nature.
  • Our equine-assisted psychotherapy program incorporates horses into sessions with a licensed mental health professional to help your child meet their treatment goals.
  • Meet our staff and therapy animals at one of our Open Houses this year scheduled for June 9th, August 11th, and September 8th.

GIRL SCOUTS DAY CAMP 

  • From glow-in-the-dark swimmers in the darkest depths of the ocean, to coral reefs filled with the most colorful creatures you can imagine, there’s tons of magic Under the Sea! In 2024, we’re setting sail for an oceanic adventure at GSOH day camps. Get ready to explore the tiny wonders and majestic giants of the deep, blue sea! Each day camp experience includes a variety of activities such as cooking out, singing, hiking, crafts, STEM, outdoor skills, slingshot/archery, and more.
  • Our programs are full of sun, fun, and adventure. You may choose to attend one camp or pick one for every week of the summer.
  • Although times may vary, a typical day camp is a five-day session held Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Girls register for day camp as individuals. They may request one buddy (must be reciprocal) of the same age level at registration.
  • Girls from the same troop are not guaranteed to be in the same unit.

YES CLUB

  • A completely free after-school/summer program for 6th-12th graders
  • They provide lunch & cover all costs of field trips.
  • They do a lot of field trips out in nature (to Hocking Hills, Flint Ridge, Hoover Dam, Columbus Zoo, Dawes, etc)
  • They provide prevention education & community service initiatives
  • Over the summer, they are open 11 am-4 pm and have walk-in tours Monday-Friday
  • When school is in session (following Newark City Schools calendar), their program runs from 2pm – 6 pm & they offer homework help and free tutoring Monday-Thursday

DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF CENTRAL OHIO SUMMER LEARNING ACADEMY

  • DSACO’s Summer Learning Academy is designed to help students maintain or improve upon the skills they have worked so hard to gain throughout the school year.
  • Summer learning loss is a significant concern for all learners, especially those with special educational needs. Studies have shown that students learn best when instruction is continuous. The goals of Summer Learning Academy classrooms are to mitigate summer learning loss, improve math and reading skills, and improve social development.
  • Each Summer Learning Academy classroom will provide 60 hours of academic instruction over 5 weeks with the focus of addressing two IEP goals for each student (one math goal and one literacy goal).
  • Summer Learning Academy is set to run from Monday June 10 through Thursday July 11, only Monday through Thursdays from 9 AM – 12 PM.
  • There is an enrollment fee of $200, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if the fee presents a financial hardship.
  • The Licking County Summer Learning Academy will have a classroom in Newark, OH with the specific location still to be determined.

THE ROCKIN’ COOL FREEDOM SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM

  • The Rockin’ Cool Freedom School provides summer and after-school enrichment through a research-based and multicultural program model that supports K-12 scholars and their families through five essential components.
  • We focus on high-quality academic and character-building enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational servant leadership development; and, nutrition, health, and mental health.
  • The program fosters environments that support young people to excel and believe in their ability to make a difference in themselves as well as their families, schools, communities, country, and world with hope, education, and action.

MUSIC CAMP

  • Music Camp will take place on August 5-9 from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM each day and will be open to 4-year-old kids through graduated 8th graders.
  • All levels of music experience will be welcome. The week will end with a performance and celebration at 7:00 p.m. in our church sanctuary followed by a reception in our dining room.
  • The cost will be $10 per participant or $30 per family unit, which includes an awesome t-shirt for each camper. Scholarships are available upon request to the church office.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities

  • A couple of our local providers may offer a 5 week, group-based, Summer Youth Work Experience during the summer months.
  • This experience is to teach students and youth with disabilities vocational skills and appropriate work behaviors.
  • A student must be determined eligible for OOD services engage in the development of an Individualized Plan for Employment, and must have a completed work permit and picture ID before the service starts.
  • If a student is not ready for the Work Experience, they could engage in Pre-Employment Transition Services that will help identify career interests and start to develop a path of transition from high school to the workforce.

MCDONALD AND GORNEY ART CAMPS

  • Discover the joy of embroidery and hand sewing, transform recycled items into decorations, or join our seasonal artful antics class packed with a diverse range of art activities.

  • During the days, you work hard — with people who are as passionate about the performing arts as you are, immersed in workshops, practices, and rehearsals.
  • In the evenings, you hang out with new friends and experience life on Denison’s beautiful college campus.

SUMMER CAMP

C-TEC STEM CAMP

  • STEM Camp is for local 4th – 6th graders interested in exploring careers and hands-on skills involved in engineering, technology, and manufacturing.

  • This camp is for local 7th, 8th, and 9th graders interested in exploring different career pathways through exciting hands-on activities and interaction with local industry professionals.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF CENTRAL OHIO SUMMER PROGRAM

  • After-school programs and all-day summer programs are designed to empower youth to excel academically, become good citizens, and lead healthy, productive lives.
  • This is a 9-week program for Licking County youths ages 6 – 18 years.
  • $100 per youth for the entire 9 weeks!
  • FREE for members entering 9th grade and up!

  • Heart of a Warrior Farm is a startup Special Needs Farm aimed to help individuals and organizations with special needs to be able to feel the love of animals in a farm setting.

COLUMBUS SPRING CHANGES SUMMER DAY PROGRAM

  • Summer day program for kids ages 12+ that offers mental health stabilization, skill-building activities, therapeutic peer interaction, and medication management.

  • Heart of a Warrior Farm is a startup Special Needs Farm aimed to help individuals and organizations with special needs to be able to feel the love of animals in a farm setting.
  • Run by  the Salvation Army; it is a Christian/faith-based camp
  • Activities include athletics, swimming, devotion, arts and crafts,
  • hiking, ziplining, etc

THE ARC OHIO SUMMER CAMP

  • The Arc has a respite summer camp in which participants go camping and enjoy an Outdoorsy experience with staff
  • Paid for with waiver dollars or local funding.  Scholarships available!
