CELEBRATING 90 YEARS IN
LICKING COUNTY

United Way of Licking County started in May of 1933 as the Community Chest of Licking County. When established the organization raised $43,570 for the Boy Scouts, Child Health Camps (now Camp O’Bannon), Girl Scouts, Newark City Hospital, Salvation Army, and the YMCA. Since then, we changed from the United Fund to United Appeal, until 1973, when we became the United Way of Licking County.

At United Way, people come together to create resilient, equitable communities that all can thrive in. As one of the largest charities with private funding, we reach out to 95% of U.S. populations, as well as 37 countries and territories, making a difference to the lives of 48 million people. We often collaborate with government, public and non-profit agencies in order to improve educational and health prospects, as well as economic development. With the combined help of 1.5 million volunteers, 6.8 million donors and over 45,000 corporate partners, United Way works to make life better in more than 1,100 communities worldwide during our second century of service.
