Another beautiful morning as I woke up at Foundation Park in Pataskala. Mayor Mike Compton did a great job of stoking the fire as everyone woke up. It was nice to make my usual cup of coffee and enjoy it in front of a warm fire.
After I packed up the tent, took a few pictures, and said goodbye to the Boy Scouts, I walked to the home of Jean Peters in downtown Pataskala. Jean was gracious the night before in offering me a place to shower before church, so I took her up on her offer. After a warm shower, I continued my walk to the First Presbyterian Church in Pataskala. At the church, I led an adult class and talked about the Community Blueprint. After the class, I headed to the sanctuary to help lead worship and deliver the sermon. The scripture chosen for the day fit in very well with my message about United Way and our Community Blueprint’s “call to action”. After Church, a reception was held in the fellowship hall. There was a lot of good food and lots of fellow-shipping going on.
After the fellowship, which ended around 2:00 p.m., I set up my tent on the lawn behind the church so that I would be ready for the night. I also had a little time to catch up on some administrative work for United Way.
Around 5:00 p.m., Luellen drove me to Licking Valley Middle School where I got to surprise my kids. Both of my twin girls were inducted into the National Jr. Honor Society. I was so proud to be there and blessed to be their Mama. After the induction ceremony, Luellen drove me back to my tent for the night.
Today was a light day. I only walked 3 miles and had lots of time to enjoy the company of many wonderful people as well as celebrate a milestone with my girls. I feel very blessed!
