The United Way, in collaboration with the Licking County Foundation and partner agencies, is presenting educational forums throughout Licking County. Under the title of “#HopeinAction”, each of the six 1-hour workshops will be offered free in five different locations. The forums are a result of the Community Blueprint which was shaped by non-profit organizations, government agencies, businesses and funders. The forums will focus on the three priority areas: Children, Youth & Families; Poverty; and Behavioral Health. For more information please contact Helen hall at 740-345-6685 or at hhall@unitedwaylc.org.

Abuse Ignores Age
Did you know that every day 10,000 people turn 65 in the United States? That trend is going to continue for nearly 20 years. Our demographics are shifting, and we will soon have more elderly people in the United States than ever before. At the same time the population is growing, we know that a startling number of seniors face abusive conditions. Every year, an estimated 5 million (or 1 in 10) older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. And, that’s only part of the picture. Experts believe that for every case of elder abuse or neglect reported, as many as 23 cases go unreported. Facilitated by Licking County Job & Services.
